A common room theme is a good idea. Paint a fake fire place and stick it up with a bookcase and table with wands and parchment on them and other related items. Also perhaps tack a painting of the Fat Lady to the door. You could also have a Crookshanks stuffed toy on an armchair as well as a well-placed owl or two.
